CROSS-SECTIONS FOR H-3(LI-7, N0)9BE AND H-3(LI-7,NTOT)

The H-3(Li-7,n0)Be-9 cross section was measured for 0.15 < E(c.m.) < 1.24 MeV at theta-lab = 0-degrees, 45-degrees, 90-degrees, and 135-degrees using Si(Li) diodes as neutron spectrometers. The H-3(Li-7,n(tot)) cross section was measured for 0.05 < E(c.m.) < 1.5 MeV using a 4-pi neutron detector. The cross section for H-3(Li-7,n0)Be-9 was used to calculate the thermonuclear reaction rate for the temperature range 0.3-10 GK. The results support predictions that Be-9 may be produced in quantities near spectroscopic limits of observation according to some models of inhomogeneous pirmordial nucleosynthesis.
