美貌者进入了高收入职业吗?

本文基于中国家庭追踪调查数据,采用Brown分解方法估计相貌对于职业获得和工资差距的作用效应,并从非认知能力和歧视两个方面,剖析了产生基于相貌的职业获得差异和收入差距的机制。实证结果表明:在控制人力资本、工作特征和非认知能力的基础上,美貌者与相貌平平者收入差距的64%是由不可解释因素导致的,36%是由可解释因素导致。如果美貌者和相貌平平者获得同样的对待,那么美貌者在高收入职业的概率和收入均将有较大幅度下降。本文的实证结果证实了中国劳动力市场上基于相貌的职业获得差异,但这种不可解释的职业获得差异不能完全归因于相貌歧视。
