大城市的农民工工资水平高吗?

本文基于最新的2011年和2012年流动人口监测调查数据,主要考察了城市规模对农民工工资水平的影响。结果发现,首先,大城市的农民工工资水平比小城市高,但这很大程度上并不是因为他们的技能水平更高。其次,城市规模扩张能提高农民工工资水平。农民工工资对城市规模的弹性系数在4.0%4.2%之间,但该系数明显低于已有文献报告的城市当地工人的相应系数。最后,综合考虑到城市间的工资、生活成本和便利性差异等,农民工从大城市获得的真实实际工资或效用水平更高。改革户籍制度,减少农民工的空间流动性障碍,将使得农民工更受益于大城市。本文控制了农民工潜在的城市选择性偏差,克服了当前城市规模的潜在内生性。
