摘要
A study was conducted to present the synthesis, characterization, and self-assembling properties of a new class of low-molecular mass monomeric organogel derived from L-phenylalanine and its polymerization from initiator-grafted silica particles. The study proposed to introduce one potential application of the polymer-coated silica particles as high-density organic stationary phase for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The study involved distilling triethylamine over potassium hydroxide before use. L-Phenylalanine, stearylamine, N-carbobenzoxychloride, and diethyl phosphor-ocyanidate (DEPC) were also used in the study. Initiator-grafted silica of 4 and 0.536 g were suspended in 17 mL dry toluene and purged with nitrogen. Silica particles were washed with water, methanol, and diethyl ether and dried under vacuum, after filtration, while getting ready for packing in stainless steel column.
