摘要
The aggregation in water of nonionic amphiphilic cyclodextrins with short hydrophobic substituents was discussed. Increased water solubility was observed upon substitution of β-cyclodextrin with hydroxylethyl and oligo(ethylene glycol) by reaction with ethylene carbonate or with ethylene oxide. The introduction of hydrophilic oligo(ethylene glycol) onto the secondary side of heptakis(6-deoxy-6-alkylthio)-β-cyclodextrins resulted in the formation of amphiphilic macrocycles with increased water solubility.
