摘要：

The routine placement of ureteral stents after uncomplicated ureteroscopy traditionally has been considered the standard of care. Recently, however, there have been numerous published reports questioning this practice. Ultimately, urologists must decide whether or not to stent intraoperatively. This article reviews the available literature on routine stenting after ureteroscopy and addresses the pertinent issues related to whether or not to leave a stent. Future developments in stent design and their impact are also discussed.
