Condensation of 2,3-dihydroxybenzene-1,4-dicarbaldehyde and 1,2-phenylenediamine afforded a novel 30-membered macrocyclic hexaimine bearing six hydroxyl groups, in which a water molecule is trapped in the crystalline state. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
