摘要：

Some of the significant factors related to the development of OpenStreetMap (OSM) based on user-generated mapping, are presented. The OSM is based on the peer production model and aim to create a set of map data under new licensed copyright schemes. The OSM project was started at University College London (UCL) in July 2004. The OSM has 33,000 registered users and 3,500 active contributors, that are using the OSM technical infrastructure. The OSM has many volunteers to create and improve OSM's infrastructure, maintaining the server, software development for OSM, and cartographical tasks. The developers are making efforts to develop software tools to provide OSM data that can be used on different application domains, software platforms, and hardware devices. The project is expected to provide digital geographical information across European countries.
