Dynamic modification of the stationary phase in capillary gas chromatography II. Continuous introduction of water vapour

摘要
Water vapour was added to the carrier gas, at levels approaching saturation, to study its effect on the retention properties of a polyethylene glycol-coated capillary GC column. A dramatic increase in hydrogen bonding interactions was observed towards alcohols and carboxylic acids. The Kovats index of methanol was found to increase by 351 units. The application of the dynamically modified stationary phase to the analysis of alcohol additives in petrol is investigated. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
