Polyhedral azaborane chemistry: NMR parameters for the unique eight-boron polyhedral species [(C2H5NH2)B8H11NHC2H5]

Boron (B-11) and hydrogen (H-1) NMR parameters have been measured for the unique polyhedral azaborane species [(NH(2)Et)B(8)H(11)NHEt)] using single- and double-resonance experiments and two-dimensional shift-correlation methods. Comparison with the NMR properties of other eight-boron species, in particular arnchno-[B8H12(PMe(2)Ph)], suggests that cluster of [(NH(2)Et)B(8)H(11)NHEt] may be better regarded as being of hypho character, rather than of arachno character as previously supposed.
