It makes sense that our genome has evolved to have two copies of every gene-just in case something goes wrong, you still have a spare. But from the perspective of a geneticist, a diploid genome makes finding causative genes somewhat of a challenge, or at best, time consuming. One solution may be induced mitotic recombination.
