On the crystal and defect structure of manganese-doped barium titanate ceramics

摘要
The influence of Mn on the microstructure, crystal structure, thermal expansivity, and positron lifetime of BaTi1-xMnxO3 ceramics (0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.05) was investigated. The crystal structure changes from tetragonal/cubic to hexagonal between x = 0.015 and 0.018 which causes a drastic change in the microstructure and the vanishing of the anomaly of the thermal expansion coefficient for x greater than or equal to 0.018. Several reasons for the stabilization of the hexagonal phase by manganese are discussed. The detected positron trap should be a complex of two singly charged accepters and one doubly charged oxygen vacancy.
