High field conduction in VCl2:VC copolymer

The electrical conductivity of solution grown thick films of VCl2 : VC copolymer studied as a function of the field (50 to 1500 V), temperature (300 to 380 K) and thickness (25 to 70 mu m) shows two distinct regions of conduction, viz. a low field ohmic region and a high field non-ohmic region. The high field conduction has been attributed to space charge limited conduction (SCLC) where the average effective mobility (mu(e)) and the trapped charge carrier density (n(t)) in the presence of shallow traps have been found to be similar to 9.8 X 10(-9) cm(2)/V s and similar to 7.3 X 10(14) cm(-3), respectively.
