Photochemistry of photochromic 2-indolylfulgides with substituents at the 1′-position of the indolylmethylene moiety

摘要
Substituted 2-indolyl fulgides with methyl and isopropyl groups at the 1'-position of the indolylmethylene moiety were synthesized. Steric effects on the spectroscopic and photochromic properties were measured and discussed. The methyl and isopropyl groups at the 1'-position decrease the quantum efficiency of the E-Z isomerization, while increase the coloration quantum yield. The thermal stability and fatigue resistance of these fulgides were determined. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
