A series of chiral aminophosphine-oxazoline auxiliaries has been prepared and applied in the copper-catalysed 1,4-addition of diethylzinc to enones. The addition products are obtained quantitatively in up to 67% ee. The most efficient ligand of the series is based on L-indoline carboxylic acid and L-valinol. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd.
