A framework for understanding and anticipating the dispersion of information systems (IS) technology, is proposed. Some significant categories of the model of organizational IS are extension, conversion, subversion, diversion, emersion, and aspersion. An information system need to be designed by considering how it can change its larger context and reflect on the possibilities for conversion, subversion, diversion, emersion, and aspersion. Organizations are now looking forward to engage their customers for an open exchange of ideas during product creation and development to meet and fulfil the market demand. Openness, programmability, and self-organization can significantly affect the diversion of an information system. The openness of the IS can be useful for determining how other people can learn and apply the technology to fulfil their needs.
