Fine structure of excited 3E state in nitrogen-vacancy centre of diamond

摘要
New analysis of hole burning and magnetic circular dichroism observations on the fine structure of the excited E-3 State in the nitrogen-vacancy centre of diamond finds;that the effective spin-orbit contribution is much smaller than previously estimated. This situation means that the spin-spin interaction determines the fine structure in centres with strain splittings > 0.5 cm(-1). It is discussed that this result is more consistent with the observed weak strain dependence of hole-burning features than earlier calculations and supports the six electron model of the centre.
