摘要
Very few materials have had as dramatic an effect on the direction of research and development as carbon nanotubes (CNT) have. These chemically simplistic materials have been shown to possess exceptional physical properties such as mechanical strength and electrical conductivity, and it is for this reason that the number of publications regarding CNTs continue to increase at an exponential rate. Publications outlining the use of CNTs in such applications as sensors, field effect transistors, capacitors, sensors and as platforms for mammalian cell culturing are a testimony to the versatility of these relatively new materials. In this review article, we explore the use of CNTs in the development of chemical sensors and biosensors. We also include some insight into CNT synthesis routes, device fabrication and CNT functionalisation.
