Synthesis of cadmium oxide nanowires by calcining precursors prepared in a novel inverse microemulsion

摘要
A method for the preparation of cadmium oxide (CdO) nanowires was reported. The method involved the calcination of precursor powders containing cadmium carbonate, sodium chloride and potassium nitrate. The precursor powders were prepared by an inverse microemulsion method. The CdO nanowire formation required a fluid phase in which elements of the crystal phase could easily move. The materials for nanowire formation were homogeneously distributed in the fluid phase which resulted in uniform nanowires.
