摘要：

The diazeniumdiolate grouping which occurs in a wide range of compounds is involved in a broad range of chemistry. Strict adherence to nomenclature protocols makes effective communication difficult, and the chaotic system that has developed is a significant impediment to future research. This grouping of atoms deserves recognition as a valid organic functional group.
