(Figure Presented) Particularly enriching: Core-shell-shell Fe 3O4@SiO2@PMMA composite microspheres (see picture; PMMA = poly(methyl methacrylate)) were synthesized readily by combining a sol-gel approach with a seeded aqueous-phase radical polymerization method. The microspheres were successfully applied toward the effective, rapid, and convenient enrichment of low-concentration peptides and proteins for mass spectrometric analysis. © 2010 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
