Current affairs. We demonstrate that it is possible to detect the conversion of reactive chemical groups on molecules attached to gramicidin A in the presence of external chemical reagents, such as KNO2, by monitoring the change in single-channel conductances across planar lipid bilayers. © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
