Magnetic structures in metallic thin films

摘要
The electronic and magnetic states of metallic thin films are theoretically studied on the basis of the uniform jellium model within a framework of the local spin density approximation. For a given average electron density, the magnetic structure is found to change successively as a function of the film thickness D. For r(s) = 6 a.u., the paramagnetic, the ferromagnetic, and the antiferromagnetic states are found. In Cs and Rb, r(s) is about 5.5, and so we expect very thin films of Cs and Rb to be magnetic.
