摘要
Materials with high surface area, tailored pore size and good electrical conductivity are needed for improved supercapacitors. Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) can have very high surface areas and tailored pore sizes. Here, tuned MOFs show electrical conductivities which are good enough to result in electrodes with nearly ideal supercapacitive behavior at rates up to 200 mV s(-1) in an electrolyte composed of 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF(6)) in acetonitrile. Electrostatic forces are the dominant charge storage mechanism in this electrolyte while electrochemical performances are limited by the particular MOF and electrolyte here reported. These results open a way for the design of tailored MOFs as electrode materials for supercapacitors. (c) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
