Fabrication of ZnO nanoplate-nanorod junctions

摘要
The ZnO nanorod-nanoplate junctions were synthesized through a vapor-transport and condensation process. 0.83g ZnO and 0.6g graphite powder were mixed and then placed at the sealed end of an alumina tube mounted in the center of a quartz tube within a tube furnace. In a nanoplate-nanorod junction, the boundary energy of a twinlike structure is generally higher than that of an epitaxial junction. When charge carriers migrate through single nanoscale branch points of nanoplate-nanorod junctions, carriers may localize and hop around the junction. A bulk white product was collected at the open end of the quartz tube. The product was characterized using XRD with Cu Ka radiation, SEM, and by means of HRTEM.
