摘要：

Although the insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs) are truly multifactorial proteins, there is little doubt that one of their most important functions is to act in concert to regulate circulating levels of free IGF-I. This article reviews current knowledge on changes in the IGFBPs during aging and discusses how this affects levels of free IGF-I and -II and hence the bioactivity of the circulating IGF system.
