Measurements of carrier mobility and quantum yield of carrier generation in discotic liquid crystal hexahexyl-oxytriphenylene by time-of-flight method

Carrier transport and generation processes in 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahexyloxy-triphenylene (HHOTP) have been studied by a time-of-flight method in various phases. The carrier mobility is estimated by the curve fitting method in which the spatial distribution of the generated charge carrier density is taken into consideration. From the experimentally determined slope-to-intercept value in a field dependence of generated charge, the zero field quantum efficiency of carrier generation is estimated to be approximately 0.05% taking the Onsager model into consideration.
