摘要
The advantages of computer-aided shape analysis and retrieval of 3D surface model are discussed. The most important advantage of 3D shape analysis is the retrieval of 3D models available on the web. Several search engines have recently been introduced for indexing 3D data for computer graphics, molecular biology, and mechanical CAD. As 3D data acquisition hardware becomes more of a commodity and more people begin to make and use 3D models in their everyday lives, the use of shape analysis and retrieval will be increasingly important.
