Characteristics of pyrolysis patterns of polybutadienes with different microstructures

Pyrolysis pattern of polybutadienes (PB) with different microstructures were characterized using pyrolysis-gas chromatography (pyrolysis-GC). PBs with different content ratios of the cis-1,4-, trans-1,4-, and 1,2-units were used. Major pyrolysis products were found to be C4H6 (butadiene), C5H8 (cyclopentene), C6H10 (cyclohexene), C7H10 (1,4-cycloheptadiene), and C8H12 (4-vinylcyclohexene). The butadiene and 4-vinylcyclohexene were produced from all the three components, while the 1,4-cycloheptadiene was formed from the 1,2-sequence. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
