On homogenization of impedance-matched chiral-in-chiral composites

The homogenization of impedance-matched chiral-in-chiral (IMCIC) composites is shown in essence to involve nothing more than the smoothening of a scalar Helmholtz equation with a non-uniform wavenumber. A wealth of simple effective medium relations and complicated numerical techniques are shown thus to become available for IMCIC composites. Using the Maxwell Garnett as well as the Bruggeman approaches, we show that equal enhancements of the permittivity and the permeability of an achiral or chiral isotropic material by dispersing a specific chiral particulate material in it are possible.
