Huge electrochemical capacitance of exfoliated carbon fibers

摘要
Exfoliated carbon fibers synthesized through rapid heating of the intercalation compounds were examined for the capacitor electrode in H 2SO4 electrolyte. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations confirmed that a single fiber was converted into a bundle of thin filaments after exfoliation by rapid heating. A drastic enhancement in capacitance was observed for the exfoliated carbon fibers due to the intercalation of H2SO4 molecules into the well-developed carbon layers.
