Orientation of protein crystals grown in a magnetic field

摘要
Three crystal forms of hen egg-white lysozyme, and ribonuclease A and met-myoglobin crystals exhibited orientation in a magnetic field of < 1 T. Magnetic field application is thus shown to be a possible means to orient protein crystals. The conditions for the orientation to occur and some of its applications are discussed.
