摘要：

In the title compound, [Co(H2O)6]L-2.4H(2)O, where HL = 3-carboxy-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid (C7H6O6S), each Co-II cation lies on an inversion center and is octahedrally coordinated by six water molecules. The L. anions do not coordinate to cobalt, but act as counter-anions. The crystal structure is composed of alternating layers of [Co(H2O)(6)](2+) cations and sulfonate anions. The [Co(H2O)(6)](2+) cations, water molecules and L. anions are connected through a complex pattern of hydrogen-bonding interactions.
