摘要
Various C-terminally truncated amyloid beta peptides (A beta) are linked to Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) concentrations of A beta 38, A beta 40, and A beta 42 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 30 patients with AD and 26 control subjects. CSF A beta 42 levels was decreased in patients with AD, whereas CSF A beta 38 and A beta 40 levels were similar in patients with AD and control subjects. All three A beta peptides were interrelated, particularly CSF A beta 38 and A beta 40. Diagnostic accuracy of CSF A beta 42 concentrations was not improved by applying the ratios of CSF A beta 42 to A beta 38 or A beta 40.
