摘要
New frontiers in quantum information with atoms and ions are discussed. Both the precision control of trapped-ion systems and very large samples of cold neutral atoms are opening important new possibilities for quantum computation and simulation. Trapped ions are suited to implementing quantum computations, which require complete and individual control of each of the qubits. On the other hand, neutral atoms in optical lattices can be very naturally manipulated in parallel because they are all exposed to the same lasers at the same time.
