Escherichia coli: Evolution of resistance to urinary antibiotics including fosfomycin in hospital (11 816 strains, 1991-1995)

摘要：

Escherichia coli is the major species of Gram negative bacilli recovered from various specimens including urine and blood culture. The susceptibility of 11 816 strains to various antibiotics including fosfomycin and fluoroquinolones was determined by the agar diffusion method. The frequency of resistance appeared similar when compared between strains from various sites but greatly variable according to the antibiotic examined. The frequency of resistance to fosfomycin was the lowest and highly stable unlike to other antibiotics such as fluoroquinolones.
