摘要
(Chemical Equation Presented) Mispairs of protonated adenine and guanine (or hypoxanthine), AH+antiG/Hxsyn, can associate in various ways to give mixed purine quartets (see picture) as demonstrated by X-ray crystallography and ab initio calculations. The planar structure of such quartets implies that akin to established purine nucleobase quartets, these quartets could also play a role in natural DNA structures. © 2005 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
