Preparation of micro-coiled SIC fibers by chemical vapor deposition and their morphology

摘要
Micro-coiled SiC fibers have been prepared by chemical vapor deposition using a powder mixture of SiO and coked rice husks that were very quickly heated to the reaction temperature. The growth conditions and morphology of the coiled SiC fibers were examined, and the growth mechanism is discussed. The coiled SiC fibers grew exclusively among the amorphous SiC fibers. The coiled SiC fibers obtained were triple coils, in which three amorphous SiC fibers entwined each other to form one combination coil having a 0.5-1 mu m coil diameter and a 10-100 mu m coil length.
