Chirp control in third-harmonic generation due to cross-phase modulation

摘要
It is demonstrated that cross-phase modulation effects have a considerable influence on frequency conversion efficiency in third-harmonic generation in extended gas media and, at the same time, permit a control of the intensity-dependent phase shift of the third harmonic. Such a chirp control in third-harmonic generation holds much promise for the generation of ultrashort pulses of short-wavelength radiation.
