摘要
The use of temperature-responsive polymers for liquid-phase separations is analyzed. Poly N-isopropyl acrylamide (PNIPAAm) has the sharpest phase transition of class of thermosensitive N-alkylacrylamide polymers. PNIPAAm copolymers containing anionic acrylic acid (AAc) or cationic dimethylaminopropylacrylamide (DMAPPAm) produce alterable properties of the stationary phase with both thermally regulated hydrophobicity and charge density for separation of bioactive compounds. Furthermore, the temperature-responsive chromatography system utilizing PNIPAAm derivatives would be highly useful for peptide and protein separation, since chromatographic separation is performed under mild acqueous mobile phase conditions.
