摘要：

Women no longer require physically and psychologically disfiguring surgery for the treatment of their breast cancer. Skin-sparing mastectomy (SSM) and immediate reconstruction is an increasingly popular option for patients with breast cancer. Many studies report similar local and distant recurrence rates for SSM as compared with traditional non skin-sparing mastectomy (NSSM). We support the use of SSM on selected patients as an oncologically acceptable procedure with superior cosmetic results when compared with traditional NSSM.
