摘要
Apple breeding is aimed at creating varieties with high fruit quality, consistently high yields, and durable discase and pest resistance. Molecular markers were developed which allow the detection of the Vf locus coding for scab resistance and the PI, locus coding for a mildew resistance. Markers for the Vbj scab resistance originating from Malus baccata jackii have been developed and allow the selection of progeny individuals carrying both the Vf and Vbj resistance in order to increase durability of resistance. We applied these advances in the selection of a specific progeny originating from a cross between the variety 'Ariwa' which can ies the scab resistance Vf and the mildew resistance Pl(1) and 'FAW 7630' which was believed to carry the Vbj scab resistance. Precise phenotypic screening of scab and mildew resistance as well as genotypic screening of the progeny plants were performed simultaneously. Cost calculations allowed economic considerations on marker assisted selection.
