A fractal property of vertically vibrated beds of granules

摘要
The concept of fractal geometry has emerged as a method of quantifying the morphology of irregular objects as a function of non-integral dimension. Experiments and particle dynamics simulations show that convective motions and mixing of particles within vertically vibrating particle beds can be characterized using a fractal property. However, the range of parameters (vibrational intensity, frequency, bed height and particle size) over which the fractal property is valid still needs further study.
