Beyond 30 MHz - Applications of high-frequency ultrasound imaging

摘要
High-frequency transducers have been developed which are suitable for medical ultrasound imaging systems operating in the frequency range of 30 to 100 MHz. These transducers can provide images of subsurface structures with microscopic resolution. The basic principles of high-frequency ultrasound imaging are discussed. Several applications of this technology, namely, eye imaging, skin imaging, catheter-based intravascular imaging, intra-articular imaging, high-frequency flow imaging, and in vivo imaging of mouse embryonic development, are also discussed.
