A straightforward synthesis of polyacetylenic montiporic acids A and B has been developed, based upon the selective and sequential substitution of the two trimethylsilyl groups of the readily available 1,4-bis(trimethylsilyl)-1,3-butadiyne. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
