Three-dimensional atom probe observation of nanoscale titanium-oxygen clustering in an oxide-dispersion-strengthened Fe-12Cr-3W-0.4Ti+Y2O3 ferritic alloy

摘要
Three-dimensional atom probe (3-DAP) analysis of mechanically alloyed oxide dispersion strengthened (MA/ODS) Fe-12Cr-3W-0.4Ti+Y2O3 alloys reveals an extremely fine dispersion of clusters below the sizes detectable in transmission electron microscopy in the final as-processed material. Similar analysis shows no such nanoscale clusters in a MA/ODS Fe-12+Y2O3 alloys which contains coarser dispersions of Y2O3. The 3-DAP analysis clearly shows that the 3-5 nm clusters are significantly enriched in Ti-Y-O relative to the adjacent matrix, suggesting at least a critical role of Ti in their formation.
