Mesoporous titania materials with a hierarchical interior macroporous structure were synthesized in a one-step simple chemical synthesis in the presence of poly(ethylene oxide) surfactant. Applications of such materials can range from catalysis, separation, and gas and heavy metal storage to microcapillary devices, drug delivery and release, optical enhancement, biomedical implants, and membrane preparation. It was believed that the method can be extended to prepare a range of oxide materials with different compositions.
