摘要
Weakly electric fish use phase and amplitude modulations of their electric organ discharge to communicate and to capture prey (electrolocation). P-type electroreceptors, also known as probability coders, on their skin can detect extremely weak signals. We analyse baseline firing characteristics of these receptors from experimental data, and present mathematical models for the firing activity of both bursting and non-bursting units.
