摘要
Children with specific language impairment (SLI) tend to exhibit co-occurring deficits in memory and auditory sentence comprehension. Are these deficits related? If so, how? In this article, the construct of working memory and its association with the sentence comprehension difficulties of children with SLI are examined. The position is taken that some of the sentence comprehension problems exhibited by children with SLI relate to inefficient management of working memory resources. Techniques are offered on how to assess working memory and enhance the efficient use of working memory resources during comprehension processing in children with specific language impairments.
