A study was conducted to demonstrate the preparation, properties, and utilization of nanoparticles of conjugated polymers. Several preparation techniques were demonstrated for the preparation of these nanoparticles. Postpolymerization generation of polymer particle dispersions was one of these techniques that was referred to as secondary dispersion. Dispersion of conjugated polymers employed polymer solutions in an organic solvent as a starting point to polymerize the nanoparticles. The preparation of nanoparticle dispersions by emulsification of a polymer solution and removal of solvent from the droplets required the initial generation of sufficiently small droplets that were colloidally stable over time to allow for solvent removal without detrimental droplet coalescence. The nature of the samples employed for investigation of the physical properties was related to potential applications and available methods.
